About this tool

This tool removes line breaks from the text, joining sentences that were interrupted in the middle into a single continuous paragraph. It is ideal for fixing text copied from PDFs, presentations, or emails that arrive with a line break at the end of each line of the original page. The line breaks are removed and the result is a continuous block of text, ready to be copied, pasted, and formatted wherever you want.

To keep your paragraph breaks and delete only the empty lines, use Remove Blank Lines.

What the tool does

Joins broken lines into a continuous paragraph
Undoes the fixed width wrapping of PDFs and emails
Automatically removes duplicate spaces that may appear when joining lines
Processing is done on your device, guaranteeing privacy for your text

When to use it

  • Text copied from a PDFA PDF stores the visual break of every line on the page. Pasting into Word or Google Docs delivers chopped up sentences. Removing the breaks restores the continuous paragraph.
  • Content coming from emailOld messages and mailing lists wrap the line every 70 or 80 characters. The tool undoes that in one go, without erasing the separation between paragraphs.
  • Cleanup before publishingText pasted into a CMS, a product description or a social media caption often carries invisible empty lines that turn into odd spacing once published.
  • Preparing dataBefore pasting text into a spreadsheet, CSV file or form, removing line breaks prevents a single piece of information from being interpreted as several separate records or fields.

Questions & Answers

Why do double spaces appear when the lines are joined?

Every line of the original text usually ends with a space before the break. Once the break is gone, that space meets the one opening the next line and the two end up side by side. The tool clears these duplicates automatically, so the resulting paragraph comes out with normal spacing.

Why does text copied from a PDF come out broken?

A PDF is a fixed layout format: it stores the position of each line on the page, not the paragraph as a unit. When you copy, every visual line becomes a real break in the text, even in the middle of a sentence.

Does the tool delete the paragraphs as well?

When removing line breaks, yes: all the content becomes a single continuous block. If you want to keep your paragraph divisions and delete only the empty lines, use the Remove Blank Lines tool instead.

What is the difference between a line break and a blank line?

A line break is the character that ends one line and continues the text on the next one. A blank line is a line that exists but holds no content, creating vertical space between paragraphs. This tool removes the line breaks that split your sentences; to clear the empty lines instead, use the Remove Blank Lines tool.
